Trumpeter Gareth Flowers has been performing with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra as an Associate Musician since 2014. As an orchestral musician, he has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Seoul Philharmonic, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the Louisville Orchestra, and the American Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician he has been a member of the International Contemporary Ensemble since 2004.
Gareth has recorded with and for many living composers. Some notable recordings include John Adams Son of Chamber Symphony, Matthias Pintscher’s Sonic Eclipse, David Byrne and St. Vincent’s Love This Giant, and the MET’s Grammy Award winning recording of Akhnaten by Philip Glass. His own electro-acoustic compositions and improvisations can be found on most streaming services.
Gareth holds a bachelor’s degree and a masters degree from the Juilliard School. His teachers have included Chuck Seipp, Steve Hendrickson, Michael Sachs, Raymond Mase, Mark Gould, Chris Gekker, David Bilger and David Krauss.
