Barcelona native Àngels Martinez joined the Metropolitan Opera as Librarian in 2013. Before arriving at the Met, she worked for twenty years as Principal Librarian for the renowned Gran Teatre del Liceu (Opera House of Barcelona), after having started out in that same organization as Assistant Librarian and Assistant to the Artistic Committee President of the Liceu.
Àngels is currently completing her fifth term as Member-at-Large for MOLA: An Association of Music Performance Librarians, and in addition to her role as an officer, she is involved in several of MOLA’s specialized committees. Meanwhile, despite her move to New York, she continues to collaborate with the Spanish Association of Music Libraries (AEDOM), as well.
Àngels studied piano performance at the Conservatory of Barcelona, and also has extensive background in ballet and other forms of dance. Her lifelong passion for globetrotting has taken her to many places around the world (particularly locations in Asia); this is a pleasure she does not intend to give up — especially when it involves good diving.
