Morris Kainuma, Tuba Associate

Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Morris Kainuma is a freelance musician in New York City. He has performed with the Metropolitan Opera since 1999, and is Principal Tuba at American Ballet Theatre since 2011. Morris has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, New York City Ballet, New York City Opera, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, New York Pops, Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, Honolulu Symphony Orchestra, Hofer Symphoniker, and Mexico City Philharmonic, as well as numerous Broadway shows.

In addition to performing, Morris serves as a member of the Executive Board at Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians, and as a committee member of the Associate Musicians of the Metropolitan Opera.
