Nishana Dobbeck will join The Metropolitan Opera Association as Librarian in the fall of 2022. Nishana served as a Librarian with “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band from 2013 to 2022, and previously held positions with The Cleveland Orchestra, Blossom Music Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival & School.
In addition to her work as a performance librarian, Nishana is involved with MOLA: An Association of Music Performance Librarians. She is currently Editor-in-Chief of the organization’s quarterly newsletter Marcato and chairs the committee that works on the newsletter, and she served as Secretary of the Board of Directors from 2016 to 2020. She has presented frequently at annual MOLA conferences, offering sessions on project management, disaster planning and preparedness, and creating library handbooks.
Nishana holds a bachelor’s degree from the Oberlin Conservatory and a master’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, both with concentrations in double bass performance. In her spare time, she enjoys sewing her own clothes (along with shopping for fabric), vegetable gardening, baking, and exploring the restaurant scene.
